Library Cards

  • A library card is free to any resident of the city or county of Pratt. You must provide proof of your current address in order to apply for a card. Children may apply for a library card as soon as they reach the age of five. A parent's or legal guardian's signature is required for applicants through age sixteen.
  • Out-of-county patrons may apply for a card. An annual fee of $5.00 per card will be charged.
  • There is a $5.00 replacement fee for lost cards.
  • Please let us know it you change your name, address, or phone number.

Circulation

  • Most materials may be checked out from the library for three weeks.
    New Fiction, magazines, children's videos, and all audio books are checked out for one week.
  • Books can be renewed unless there is a waiting list or the book is an interlibrary loan.
  • Audio Books can be renewed for one week.
  • Renewals can be made over the phone or in person.
  • Art prints may be checked out for four weeks at $1.00 per month per print.
  • AV Equipment may be checked out for one day.
  • Checked Out? The library can reserve a book for you and give you a call as soon as the book is available.
  • The fine for late book and magazine returns is ten cents per day, per item. Overdue videos, audio books, or framed prints are fifty cents per day, per item. AV equipment is $1.00 per day, per item.
  • Patrons are responsible for all lost or damaged items.
  • An after-hours book return is located on the wall to the right of the north door.

  • Inter-Library Loans: if the library does not own the book you want, it can usually be borrowed from another library. A $2.00 postage fee, per item, is charged.
  • Federal and State Tax Forms distributed during tax time.
  • Copy Machine (ten cent per sheet charge)
  • Audio Visual Equipment: Overhead Projector, Slide Projector, Polaroid Camera, 16mm Projector and Portable Screens.
  • PC's for word processing
  • Internet Access for public use. Connection to the Internet is provided by COX COMMUNICATIONS through PROJECT KIDS.
  • SEETEC Magnification System

  • Homebound Services: delivery of materials is available to homebound patrons within the city.

  • Kansas Collection: includes books about Kansas and its people, as well as books by Kansas authors.

  • Popular Reading Area: a browsing area for new titles.

  • Parenting Collection: includes books, videos, and audio cassettes for parents or caregivers of children.
  • Chilton's Auto Repair Manuals: ($25.00 deposit required if taken from the library).

Youth Services

Children's Room

  • A children's library for preschool through fifth grade includes board books, picture books, easy readers, juvenile fiction, non fiction, accelerated reading materials, magazines, videos, read-along books with cassettes and audio books.
  • Preschool Storytime (ages 3-5) is scheduled on Monday and Thursday mornings from 9:30a.m._10:30a.m.
  • A Summer Reading Program is held annually.
  • Special Activities are announced throughout the year.
  • Computers available for use with educational software programs.

Young Adult

  • The Young Adult collection includes popular fiction and audio books for Middle School readers.
  • Young Adult nonfiction is shelved with the adult nonfiction.
